5000 Twitter Followers Celebration & Giveaway

5000 Twitter Followers Celebration & Giveaway

Twitter has a special place in the heart of Gospel eBooks. When we first started in October 2010 we tweeted out deals under the username @freeonkindle. This was before we were on any other social media site or even had a website. The site grew and we expanded but Twitter continues to be one of your favourite ways to follow us and share the deals we post. We were excited to see that today we past the 5000 follower milestone. To celebrate we’re giving away a prize to two winners.

Each winner will receive one Kindle e-Book of your choice. One winner will be hand picked and the other will be chosen randomly.

To enter, simply leave a comment below with the following information 1) What book you want (any Christian book available on Kindle) 2) Why you want to read that book.

Contest closes in 24 hours (June 20th, 5:30pm EST). The winners will be announced on our social media networks and in the comment section below tomorrow night.

  2. I want Death Without Company by Craig Johnson, because I’m really enjoying the first book in the Longmire series, The Cold Dish.

  3. Carter Stubbs Says: June 19, 2012 at 5:43 pm

Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler. As a member at the Village church, I am excited to see God’s work through Matt Chandler in written form.

  4. I would like Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. From what I have heard, it’s one of the best systematic theologies available today. And having it in electronic rather than printed form would be a great blessing.

  6. Tim Lupo Says: June 19, 2012 at 5:47 pm

Enjoy the Silence by Maggie/Duffy Robbins. I saw it referenced in another book I read (One that I got off Gospelebooks, so thank you!) looked it up, and have wanted to read it ever since!

  7. I love Gospel Ebooks! Fo’ real! you guys have helped me increase my library in big ways. That’s a good thing for a pastor. I greatly appreciate all you do!

I would like to read Bonhoeffer’s Ethics. I read Metaxas’ bio of him and really connected with him. I read his Psalms meditations and Life Togerther. Now I would LOVE to read Ethics and deepen my understanding of him and be challenged deeper in my faith.

    Thanks again for the opportunity!

  8. Daunavan Buyer Says: June 19, 2012 at 5:49 pm

The book that I want to read is Community by Brad House. I recently accepted my first pastoral job after finishing my bachelor degree (theology) in September! I believe that building a strong community is going to be vital in impacting the young adults that God is putting under my care! This book will help me to for this community and inform what God is doing and can do there.

  9. Barry Wallace Says: June 19, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Father Hunger: Why God Calls Men to Love and Lead Their Families

Why? Great topic, great writer, great combination!

  10. I want to read Illusion, by Frank Peretti. I read so many theological books for work, I could use a nice fiction book for a change. Based on his previous books, this promises to be a great one! Thanks for the great contest!

  11. 1) Gospel Coach
    2) I had an amazing guy build into me using the Gospel Coaching method before the book was out. I want to be able to help coach others to the best of my ability through God, but I believe a resource like this would be incredibly beneficial.

  12. I always follow your tweets and I’m thankful for all the great books you offer for free! I’d love to read “God Is Love”: A Biblical and Systematic theology by Gerald Bray! Always looking to get more of an in-depth view into the Bible and Christ. I’ve heard great recommendations from this one and I’d love to add it to the library.

  13. David Hoskinson Says: June 19, 2012 at 5:54 pm

I would like to read When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting the Poor…and Yourself (Brian Fikkert, Steve Corbett, David Platt).

I lived in North Africa for five years, and I have participated on various short-term international projects over the past few years. I am very interested in reading the perspective this book offers on how to provide sustainable growth/development that builds the Kingdom.

  14. I would love the book Womanly Dominion, by Mark Chanski – I’ve been hearing lots of good things about it lately and I think it’s an area I could stand to grow in.
Thanks again for your great service, Gospel Ebooks team!

  15. I would like to read The Cross Centered Life by C.J. Mahaney. Sometimes us Christians tend to focus on being religious rather then focus on the core of the Bible…Christ and the Cross.

  16. First off, I greatly appreciate your site’s efforts at helping us find cheap and free books! Thank you! Secondly, I would love to get John MacArthur’s “Slave.” I have heard some really good stuff about this book and would love to glean from his insight on what it means to be a slave of Christ.

  17. I would like to read Gospel Wakefulness. The Lord has shown me much recently how you never move beyond the Gospel as your grow in your faith, but rather deeper in your understanding of the Gospel. I have heard this is a great book and it is on my wish list. I love your website and go to it often. Thanks too for the facebook and twitter posts!

  18. Present Perfect by Gregory Boyd. Because serving as a missionary, I sometimes feel lonely by myself here in a strange land and different culture. But, I know God is always with me. In this book, Boyd (one of my favorite authors) helps to instill disciplines in the Christian life to help remind us of God’s ever presence in our life. And, since I live in a foreign non-English speaking country, I can really use an e-book to download onto my Kindle where bookstores are nowhere to be found.

  19. I’d love to have Robert Reymond’s A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith. I keep hearing great things about it, but it’s heavy. Really heavy. This will allow me to benefit from the content without risking injury to my lower back or rotator cuff! Ü

  20. Darrell Jordan Says: June 19, 2012 at 6:08 pm

I would like to read Apocalypse Unleashed by Mel Odom. I got the first three books on discount over Christmas and can’t find this one anyway to finish the series.

  21. Celebration of Discipline, by Richard Foster. If you’ve ever read this classic work on Spiritual Growth, you know the impact in can have and the value of being able to take it with you everywhere. In addition to the obvious “disciplines” (study and prayer), the one’s almost never written about, such as simplicity and solitude, our needed now more than ever.

  22. I love your site, and this is a great giveaway!

We have read through ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ a couple times with the kids, but we only have my old paperback version. It would be great to have it in digital form.

    Thanks!!!

  23. Drew Maust Says: June 19, 2012 at 6:11 pm

I’d love a commentary on Jeremiah, preferably NICOT if it’s available. Why? Because I don’t yet have a commentary on Jeremiah.

  24. Thank you for your service. I have downloaded many a book because of your suggestions. I would love to read Joel Beeke’s book “Developing A Healthy Prayer Life,” because I thoroughly enjoyed his book on the puritan’s view of prayer – “Taking Hold of God.”

  25. I would love to read: A Meal with Jesus: Discovering Grace, Community, and Mission around the Table because how often do you just sit down and not even think about the gospel before you eat. 3 meals a day, 7 days is a week, is 21 meals a week, 84 meals a month, and 1092 meals a year. The point is not the actual number. The point is we spend a lot of time eating. That’s why this book matters.

  26. I would like to read the King Jesus Gospel by Scott McNight

Because the perspective represented there seems very interesting.

  27. Oh wow! I just got my kindle within the last week, but even prior to that received many free books from your website. While there are a lot of books I would love to have free – my current “most wanted” is Coming Home by Karen Kingsbury! Yes, it is fiction but her books are to encouraging and true to life.

  28. I want ro read, Charles Hodge: Guardian of American Orthodoxy by
Paul C. Gutjahr, but haven’t because it’s a pricey ebook.
I think we owe more than we realize to Hodge. His commentary on
1 Corinthians has always been a favorite of mine.

  29. I am really wanting to check out The Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler. I am a big follower d his sermons, and the book looks great!

  30. I would love to have Kingdom Calling: Vocational Stewardship for the Common Good by Amy Sherman. I like how she integrates faith and work in this book.

  31. Congratulations gospelebooks! I would like to read Organic church by Neil Cole because I am currently exploring how to and philosophy about a church that is an organism, not just an organization as a youth pastor in a multicongregational setting.

  32. I value this service so much that I have all your posts sent as text messages to my phone. The next Kindle book on my list is Invitation to Biblical Preaching by Donald Sunukjian. Preaching is my passion, and I believe this book will help me sharpen my homiletcal tools.

  33. I would like to have God’s Glory in Salvation through Judgment: A Biblical Theology by James Hamilton. I want to pursue an “entire view” of theology throughout Scripture. Something slightly different than the “normal” systematic way of doing it! Thanks for your many recommendations (And freebies)!

  34. I would love to win a free Kindle e-book, but I don’t have any Kindle Touch that I would love to win. I would love to have e-book of Heaven by Randy Alcorn or other fiction books Randy Alcorn or Frank Peretti too. If that is a theological book, I still want that in book form so that I can write in them and highlight.

  35. Joshua Wong Says: June 19, 2012 at 6:36 pm

I would love to have C.S. Lewis’ Cosmic/Space Trilogy, and since only one e-book, Perelandra. I enjoy reading the first one look forward to reading the second and experience how Lewis weaves biblical truth in fiction with a literary style that should be replicated for generations to come.

  36. Book: You would make my day if I won Future Grace by John Piper, Reason: its a book that my pastor recommended especially when it came to matters of salvation

    Congratulations :-)

  37. I would lik to win Tim Keller’s The Meaning of Marriage because I’ve heard it’s the best book on marriage EVER. Seems like something worth checking out.

  38. Shannon Huhtala Says: June 19, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Reading “The 5 Levels of Leadership” by John Maxwell would make me happy and help me reach my goal of becoming a better leader so that I can advance my ministry. One small step in my future. Thank-you Gospel Ebooks for being a part of that.

  39. justin mayo Says: June 19, 2012 at 7:05 pm

    1) Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster… I lost my dead tree copy :(
    2) It is a great book on spiritual discipline and I would like to read it again.

  40. I would like “Nuclear Energy” by Heinloth because it seems like a great deal at over $1,500 off the list price of $7,790. Really, who wouldn’t want their own nuclear reactor?

Either that book or “T4T: A Discipleship Re-Revolution” a book that would help me learn best practices of church planting. I’d be cool with either.

  41. The Road to Grace, by Richard Paul Evans. He is the best author I have ever read anything from.

  42. I would love to win Craig Keener’s “Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Accounts”. The pervasive idea in our present culture of the irrationality of the miraculous esp. in re: to Scripture comes up, in one way or another, in every conversation I have about the Bible, God, and Christianity in general. Secular writers and cultural commentators all preach the same gospel too: “Man is the measure of all things” (Protagoras) and thus, “God is dead, for we have killed Him.” (Nietzsche)

In hearing this repeatedly as often as I do, I realize that I am not as prepared (in a large part due to my own lack of meditation and reflection) to answer those with honest questions – in particular those of my children. I intend to read this book to begin my path to an increased understanding of the credibility of the miraculous in the Bible and the incredulity of the claims to the contrary in order to be better prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within me – to those within and without my family.

  43. I have been truly blessed by Gospel eBooks. I am able to get great books for either a good deal or free. It is neat how the Lord provides those things!

  44. The Intolerance of Tolerance by D.A. Carson. This is a well used argument against Christianity and I find myself often wishing I were better equipped to discuss it.

  45. Kelly Haines Says: June 19, 2012 at 7:22 pm

I would love to receive I am second. I have been wearing the bracelet. I am teaching my children the importance of serving others. For every kind exchange I see them do for either another person or more importantly their siblings. They recieve 2¢. They are working to buy there own I am second bracelit. We use the web site but I would love to be able to read the book for night time stories.

  46. A good selection would be: “Only One Way?: Reaffirming the Exclusive Truth Claims of Christianity”. Richard D. Phillips (Author, Editor, Contributor). This is probably the central issue in understanding and defending the faith. Without a clear understanding of truth and how to present truth claims in our pluralitic culture, it is exceedingly difficult to proclaim the life saving gospel of Christ.

  47. Fatimat Shotande Says: June 19, 2012 at 7:23 pm
  48. I would love to read the book “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn. I have heard many great things about the book and how it has changed hearts. Also, recently, I have really had the desire to go to heaven where there will be no more sin. How great that will be to never fear man again or think another evil thought! Where we will finally praise the Lord for eternity!

  49. Michelle Johnson Says: June 19, 2012 at 7:25 pm

  50. Hmmm, that’s such a hard one! 54. I would like to have “God’s Story, Your Story: When His Becomes Yours” by Max Lucado. The book I ordered I gave as a gift and would like to replace that copy for myself. I hadn’t read it yet. I would like a copy to read so I know whether I would like to give to others as a gift too.

  55. I would like to have “Mortal” by Ted Dekker and Tosca Lee. I’m a big fan of both of these authors and this is book two of what looks to be an incredible series. I already have book one, “Forbidden,” on my Kindle and would love to add “Mortal” to it! Thanks for the opportunity! I really appreciate your posts!

  56. Congratulations gospelebooks.net on passing 5000 Twitter followers!
If I were to win one free ebook, I would want it to be “C(H)AOS Theory: Reflections of Chief Academic Officers in Theological Education” It would be a helpful resource for Davis College.

  57. alan aguinaldo Says: June 19, 2012 at 7:43 pm

  59. I would like to have the book “God of the Possible: A Biblical Introduction to the Open View of God” by Gregory A. Boyd. I have read the book in the past as a hard copy but enjoyed it so much I want to keep reading it and being challenged by my view of God. As I read all my books on my Kindle now it would be nice to have the Kindle version of this book to keep reading even when I’m on the go.

  60. I want to read “The Reason for God” by Tim Keller, why? Because I’ve heard some lectures by him where he mentions some topics that are written in the book. I think I could learn more about apologetics, based on the author’s point of view, which is based on some C.S. Lewis quotes and letters, among other authors.

  61. Oh .. A great way to celebrate, congrats on such a formidable milestone! I have had my eye on Olivia Newport’s Christian fiction, The Pursuit of Lucy Banning; I want to read it to learn more about Amarican history while being inspired at the same time.

  62. Adam Baird Says: June 19, 2012 at 8:38 pm

    Book: Systematic Theology (Wayne Grudem)

  63. Victor King Says: June 19, 2012 at 8:40 pm

I’d love to read Shame Interrupted by Ed Welch – I’m recently realizing how much the gospel speaks to our shame, and it’s a word I really need to hear.

  64. The Gospel according to John (Pillar New Testament Commentary) by D.A. Carson. I’d much rather have a commentary in digital format so its not so bulky and Carson is one of my favorite Bible teachers.

  65. Book: Let Them Eat Fruitcake: a novel (86 Bloomberg Place)
Reason: Because I love Melody Carlson’s books and I love Christmas stories!

  66. I would like to have Michael Horton’s “The Christian Faith”. I have read a couple of his books and listen to WHI every week and I think his systematic theology would be a valuable addition to my library.

  67. Will Browning Says: June 19, 2012 at 8:46 pm

1.) The Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler
2.) I have a tendency to lean towards more pragmatic reads that help me in ministry. Trying to focus a bit more on Theology this year. After seminary, I was a bit burned out on theological reads.

  68. David Onder Says: June 19, 2012 at 9:05 pm

I absolutely love this site. I have recommended it numerous times to friends and family.

I would love to read Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology. I have been delving into the basics of Christianity as I have begun teaching an apologetics seminar at my church and this book has been on my list for some time. 85. Thx & Congrats! I can think of about 206 books I could pick right now, but I am going to go with “Give Them Grace” by Elyse Fitzpatrick. It’s NOT the fault of the Brothers Tripp, but I have seen my parenting become increasingly legalistic/moralistic and from what I have heard this book might help. Thank you for the giveaway.

  95. Wow, this is great! THank you EGospel!

  106. I want to read “A Queer Thing Happened To America: And what a long, strange trip it’s been” by Michael Brown because it’s been highly recommended in preparing for likely /the/ mechanism of the age for undermining orthodoxy.

  107. I would love to read “Christian Theology” by Millard Erickson. I’m a seminary student and this is one of the more expensive books required for me next semester. 112. Either God Is Red: The Secret Story of How Christianity Survived and Flourished in Communist China or Mortal by Tedd Dekker. I love historical type books and I also love Christian Fiction. :) I would enjoy either book.

I have so many books I’d like to read, but the one that first comes to mind is “Why Jesus” by Ravi Zacharias. I love his materials that defend the faith, and I have been looking forward to this volume that talks about the uniqueness of Jesus in our media-saturated culture. I check your site at least twice daily to see what new deals might be available. With your help, I have been able to build a great e-library for a very reasonable cost. I am thankful for your service, and I have told many others about you over the last few months since I found you. Keep up the great work!

  114. Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology is so good! The hardcover copy is pretty heavy and since I bring my Kindle everywhere, it would be great if I could read it somewhere such as, say, the car.

I would love to win “Gospel” by JD Greear because everything I hear says the book points to Christ and how the gospel affects every aspect of our lives. I would love to learn more about that so the gospel never becomes something I move beyond or take for granted.

  116. I’d love to have “The cost of discipleship” by Bonhoeffer. I think not only I, but many readers will benefit from reading such a powerful book.

  117. I would love to build my Ted Dekker collection, and Mortal would be a great place to start. I love the alternate reality worlds Ted creates, and reminds me of why I believe what I believe in this one.

Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. I am a seminary student and a teacher of the Word, so being able to have Grudem’s ST with me all the time and searchable would be invaluable. Thanks so much!

  119. I would love to read Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus. My wife is 6 months pregnant with our first child and I am looking forward to showing fatherly love to my son/daughter just as my Heavenly Father has loved me.

  120. I would love to read Community That is Christian by Julie Gorman. I have been involved in several small groups and in helping our church shape small groups for college students. I am hoping to read this book to help address some of the struggles that we have had in our small groups and how to make them more Christ-focused.

  121. I would like to win Firestrom by Jeanette Windle because it is the sequel to her first book Crossfire and I really like Crossfire and got it through this site actually :) This site has helped me to purchase over 170 ebooks, all for free and all Christian! They have all helped expand my faith. Crossfire especially because it really took me in and I could not put it down! I hooked me completely and unexpectedly and I really really want to know what happens in the sequel!!

  122. I would love to win Tim Keller’s “The Meaning of Marriage.” I have heard great things about this book, and Keller has impacted my life through every other book that he has written. I appreciate the opportunity to win!

  123. I would love to read Craig S. Keener’s book Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Account. Keener is an excellent scholar of the first rate and has put together this wonderful study on the Miracles. With all the discussion these days about supernatural intervention, spiritual gifting, and miraculous healing, this book makes an excellent resource for anyone studying and forming a well thought argument and defense for the miracles. I heartily recommend this book and would love to add it to my library!

  124. Signature in the Cell by Stephen C. Meyer is a book I would enjoy reading. It’s received great reviews as a book that lays out an explanation of the theory of Intelligent Design. It’s on my Amazon Wish List!

  125. Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments by Brevard Childs because I can’t afford to buy it!

  126. I would love the first book in the Zion Covenant series by Bodie Thoene. I read this series in college and would love to revisit it.

I’d love to receive Date Your Wife because I know I need to grow as a husband.

  128. Real Marriage by Mark & Grace Driscoll. My wife and I have been married for almost 13 years and love to gain Biblical and Godly insight to last over 60 years as my grandparents have.

I’ve loaded my Kindle with tons of books I’ve learned about from Gospel eBooks. I’d like to read Jesus Have I Loved But Paul? because I’m interested in reading more about the integration of Paul’s thought on Jesus’ teachings. Sounds like a really interesting book.

  130. I would like ‘The Last Christian on Earth: Uncover the Enemy’s Plot to Undermine the Church’ because Os Guinness is one of my favorite authors, I loved The Gravedigger Files, and I’d like to read the thesis from the book updated for today. Thank you!

  131. Great! I have been following you guys since the old days of @freeonkindle.
